Basic Life Support and Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

Overview

This qualification has been designed for those who have a specific interest or responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities to provide Basic Life Support when dealing with an emergency situation which may involve using an Automated External Defibrillator.

Course Objectives

The aim of the qualification is to equip learners with the knowledge, skill and confidence to deal with a range of first aid situations and safely use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Agenda

  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  • Know how to safely use an automated external defibrillator
  • Be able to safely use an automated external defibrillator
  • Understand BLS/AED algorithm

Progression

Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work ( 1 Day )

Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (3 day)

Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (2 day)

Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid
