Cultural Awareness

The aim of this course is to give learners, a basic understanding, of the common challenges that may arise when dealing with persons, and groups, of different cultural backgrounds. So by the end, learners will be able to identify cultural barriers and adapt key principles, in order to overcome them.

What is culture?

In this module you will learn to:

• Understand the meaning and scope of the term 'Culture'
• Be able to identify culture through various means
• Identify the 3 elements that determine culture 

Understanding cultural barriers

In this module you will learn to:

• Be able to identify common workplace barriers to culture
• Understand prejudice and stereotyping
• Understand and identify common religious traditions 

Overcoming cultural barriers

In this module you will learn to:

• Understand the steps to overcoming cultural barriers
• Understand how to use these steps to prevent barriers in your workplace 
• Be able to recognise why culture exists
