Fire Safety Awareness

This training course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and understanding of fire safety in the workplace. The course focuses primarily on fire prevention, but also covers detection and approved firefighting methods. This course does not however, provide you with occupational competence in using firefighting equipment as there is no practical assessment.

Introduction to Fire Safety

In this module you will learn to:

• Understand the common causes of workplace fires
• Understand the fire triangle
• Identify sources of ignition and fuel
• Understand the terms Flashover and Backdraft

Fire Safety and the law

In this module you will learn to:

• Understand fire safety and the law
• Identify and discuss the purpose of the Fire regulatory reform 2005
• Understand enforcement in fire safety
• Identify and understand the types of notices served by enforcement officers

Protecting people in the workplace from fires

In this module you will learn to:

• Understand and identify fire detection equipment
• Understand how you can contribute to restricting smoke and fire spread
• Understand fire classification
• Understand how to extinguish a fire using the correct fire extinguisher
